Swimsafer 2.0 program

Swimsafer Stage 1: Introduction to water skills

Learners will learn how to develop confidence in the water as well as deep water safety. There are many personal water techniques taught including forward and backward movement as well as safe entry and safe exit.

Swimsafer Stage 2: Fundamental water skills

In this stage, learners will aim to achieve at least 25 metres of continuous swimming. In general, they will learn skill development such as unassisted step entry into water, feet first surface dives as well as water safety in aquatic environments.

Swimsafer Stage 3: Personal and Stroke Development skills

This stage involves all principles of personal survival and basic rescue skills. The main goal of this stage is to help learners gain underwater skills learn how to use floatation devices and achieve at least 50m of continuous swimming.

Swimsafer Stage 4 (Bronze): Personal survival as well as Stroke improvement skills

The focus of this stage is the development of child’s stroke techniques as well as coordinated breathing when swimming. Principles of water safety and personal survival skills will also be taught.

Swimsafer Stage 5 (Silver): Intermediate personal survival as well as stroke refinement skills

This stage involves introduction of fundamentals of diving.Development of rescue skills as well as personal survival skills will be taught at advanced levels. Children will demonstrate efficient stroke techniques up to fifth stage.

Swimsafer Stage 6 (Gold): Advanced personal survival and swimming skills

Children will perform strokes at ease and will have more efficiency at over 400 meters. Rescue skills will mainly focus on lifesaving readiness and personal safety skills will also be taught.
